about

I made this sonic hodge podge and lyrical rant in 2016 when Donald Trump was about to be elected President of the Ununited States of America. Defeated by my despair and disappointment in a nation led by insufferable egotists (on both sides of the aisle), coupled with my feelings of insufficiency as a mixing engineer, I resorted to my old tactic of burying my music far away from any unsuspecting ears. I had just released "Free To Fall" and "Tight Rope" before that, and as such, they form a tryptich. The bulk of the three songs was written in three months. Today, 11.02.20, it is one day before the 2020 election. Nothing has changed and I fear nothing will change tomorrow. No matter the result. I pray for empathy. For open ears. For compassion and kindness and all other tropes that fend off hopelessness. We can all learn from each another. But we cannot teach anyone we are not willing to learn something from. God help us all. It's a long way home from here.

lyrics

feast your eyes on america
what a perfect time to lose your sight to
give up hope and see the light
waiting for a miracle
what a thought to think that a sinking
ship could burn so fast within a blink

... and you give it all away to those with more,
that sacred psalm your credit score.
Will you live to see the day you can afford
to sue your friends in private court?

feast your eyes on america
what a perfect choice to choose between
a silent voice and empty dreams
no surprise you're hysterical
when you thought that you had
a chance to play and a right to see another day.

... and you live afraid to think of what's in store
of all the things you can't afford
and you pray to everything that keeps you bored
our shiny hand-held overlords
and you slave away to stay forever poor
forever knocking at the door
and you wave away your rights to what is pure
a master race of hate folklore...

------------

it's a long way home from here
as we're drowning in our fear
in a toxic atmosphere
where the truth is so unclear
and the finish line is near

it's a long way home from here
